Simon Kubalik, 20, of Dulverton Place, Beeston, was sentenced to six years in prison for a violent robbery that occurred in Leeds after he attacked a stranger who had offered him a lift. Kubalik was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday, following his guilty plea in October.

In the early hours of April 25, Kubalik, accompanied by a woman, approached a man sitting in his car on Harehills Lane. The victim kindly agreed to give them a lift to St Albans Road. However, once they arrived, Kubalik turned violent, attacking the driver by punching him multiple times and stealing his wallet and phone.

The brutal assault caused severe injuries, including facial fractures that required several operations to treat. CCTV footage was crucial in identifying Kubalik, leading to his arrest and subsequent conviction.

Kubalik’s actions highlight the grave consequences of violent crime, and his sentence reflects the seriousness of the attack.
