Sikligar Gang Members Arrested for Rs 1.25 Crore Theft in Gujarat

The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) has successfully arrested three members of the notorious Sikligar Gang in connection with a Rs 1.25 crore theft. The gang was involved in a series of high-profile thefts across Surat, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, and Bharuch districts.

Among the arrested was Saspal Singh alias Papa Singh Kalani, a notorious criminal with 27 criminal cases to his name, including charges of murder and violations of the Arms Act in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. Kalani, who had recently been released from prison, was allegedly involved in this massive theft.

Following their arrests, the DCB sleuths recovered gold, silver, and cash worth approximately Rs 1 crore from various sources. The Sikligar Gang had stolen gold, silver, and cash worth Rs 1.25 crore from Ornament Jewellers in the Umra police station area.

In response to the theft, the DCB launched an extensive operation, deploying 17 teams, including five inspectors, 12 sub-inspectors, and 80 other officers. The police used human intelligence and technical surveillance to track and apprehend the gang members.

Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Raghvendra Vatsa commented on the operation, emphasizing the complexity of the case and the successful execution of the police’s coordinated efforts.
