Sikar Police Arrest Five for Multi-Million Rupee Land Scam

Sikar Kotwali Police arrested five individuals, including a woman, in connection with a multi-million rupee land scam. The gang defrauded 19.5 million rupees from the complainant by pretending to sell land, using a method eerily similar to the plot of the movie “Bunty Aur Babli.”

The accused Kailash Sharma, along with his wife Mamta Devi and three others, lured the victim into a fake land deal by posing as legitimate landowners. Police Superintendent Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav confirmed that 18.5 million rupees were recovered from the arrested individuals.

According to the complaint filed by Mohammed Salim from Churu district, he was swindled on February 12, 2025, when he was offered land by the gang. The accused took an advance of 2 million rupees from Salim, promising to register the land on the same day. However, when Salim arrived with the remaining 17.5 million rupees, he was misled into a car swap, and his money was stolen.

A special investigation team was set up under the leadership of the police, leading to the successful recovery of 18.5 million rupees out of the 19.5 million rupees. Further efforts are being made to recover the remaining amount.

The accused used a strategy similar to that seen in the film “Bunty Aur Babli,” deceiving people by showing fake land and involving locals to make the transaction seem authentic. Kailash Sharma and Shahadat Ali, who posed as the landowner, were arrested along with Mamta Devi, Imran, and Ijazuddin.

The case was solved due to the hard work and dedication of the police team, including CO City Prashant Kiran, Probationary IPS Prateek Singh, Kotwali Station Officer Sunil Jangid, and other team members.
