Shiny Mathew Arrested for Scamming Job Seekers with Fake Visas

A woman from Muvattupuzha, Shiny Mathew (49), was arrested by local police for allegedly defrauding job seekers by offering non-existent work visas. Mathew is accused of cheating two individuals, collectively swindling them out of more than Rs6 lakh.

According to police, Mathew promised one victim a job in a German supermarket, for which she charged Rs4.38 lakh for a fake work visa. Another victim was allegedly promised a job in Singapore, for which Mathew reportedly collected Rs2 lakh.

The victims, who had hoped to secure employment abroad, were left stranded after paying the hefty sums and realizing they had been deceived. Mathew’s fraudulent activities were uncovered, and she was arrested by the Muvattupuzha police, who have launched further investigations into the case.

This arrest highlights the growing issue of job scam syndicates targeting vulnerable job seekers with fake promises of overseas employment. The police have urged the public to be cautious when dealing with such offers and to verify the legitimacy of job placements through official channels.
