PHOENIX, Ariz. — A Prescott woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for embezzling more than $100,000 from a local business and a charity organization that serves the homeless in the Prescott area.
Sheena Holmes, 38, was convicted in April 2025 of theft over $25,000 and theft over $100,000, according to the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office. In addition to her prison sentence, she received seven years of probation to begin after her release.
Prosecutors say Holmes first stole over $30,000 from a construction supply company while working as an accounting clerk between late 2021 and early 2022. She left the job after just four months.
She was later hired by a Prescott-area nonprofit that supports the homeless and low-income residents, where she went on to embezzle more than $111,000. The theft included money from the charity’s thrift store, housing programs, and shelter fees.
The second theft came to light when Prescott Police Department detectives, investigating the earlier business theft, reached out to the charity and discovered further financial misconduct.
“Ms. Holmes stole from a local business that trusted her and also from a charity that helps the homeless and poor,” said Yavapai County Attorney Dennis McGrane. “I hope this sentence deters others from stealing what is not theirs.”
