In a swift response to a brutal murder in Reasi, police arrested the accused, Shakoor Ahmed alias “Shoki”, within an hour of the crime. The murder occurred when Zahoor Ahmed, 35, a resident of Mari village and a posted officer in Kishtwar district, was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon, resulting in his immediate death.
Zahoor’s lifeless body was discovered near an industrial area at Kattal Gran Morh around 2:40 PM. Authorities swiftly transported it to Reasi District Hospital for postmortem. Following the murder, police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
In response to the severity of the crime, Reasi SSP Mohita Sharma promptly assembled multiple teams to track down the perpetrator. Their efforts led to the capture of Shakoor Ahmed, who was attempting to flee the district after committing the murder. The motive behind the crime remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
