In a swift breakthrough, Shahdara police solved a Rs 1 crore heist within 24 hours of the incident, leading to the arrest of the prime suspect and his accomplice. The theft occurred on March 15 at the residence of businessman S Gupta.
According to DCP Prashant Gautam, Gupta had hired a domestic worker named Nagarjun through a placement agency just three days before the incident. On the day of Holi, Gupta and his family left for Gurgaon, leaving Nagarjun alone at the house. Upon their return, they discovered that the locks on the gate were broken and Nagarjun was missing.
An investigation revealed that Nagarjun, whose real name turned out to be Suresh Malik, had stolen Rs 6 lakh in cash, along with gold and diamond jewellery valued at around Rs 1 crore. Police filed a case under Section 306 (burglary) and initiated an investigation.
A dedicated team led by Inspector Munish analyzed CCTV footage from over 100 cameras and gathered local intelligence. Their efforts culminated in the identification of Suresh Malik and his accomplice, Rohit Kumar Malik. Following raids and technical surveillance, both suspects were apprehended from Lado Sarai.
The police continue their investigation to uncover further details surrounding the theft and the suspects’ activities.
