In a decisive blow to drug trafficking networks, the Itanagar Police arrested a habitual drug peddler, Semo Tok, during a targeted operation on Saturday evening in the F and G Sector of the city.
Acting on specific intelligence about narcotics movement near the Rural Bank, adjacent to Aditya Drug House Pharmacy, a team from Itanagar Police Station launched a swift raid. The operation was led by SDPO Shri Kengo Dirchi and Inspector K. Yangfo, under the close supervision of Superintendent of Police, Itanagar Capital Complex.
Two suspects were intercepted during the operation. A personal search of one of them led to the recovery of the following items:
4 vials of suspected heroin (brown powder) – 6.48 grams
27 tablets of Nitcor-10 (Nitrazepam 10 mg)
10 tablets of Nitrosun-10 (Nitrazepam 10 mg)
4 syringes
The total weight of contraband seized was 10.18 grams.
The arrested accused, Semo Tok (24), son of Radek Tok, is originally from Sede village under Pakke Kessang Police Station. He currently resides in Vivek Vihar, Itanagar. He was immediately taken into custody and a case was filed under multiple sections of the NDPS Act, 1985:
Section 21(b) – Possession of manufactured drugs
Section 27 – Consumption of narcotics
Section 27A – Financing illicit traffic and harboring offenders
Section 29 – Abetment and criminal conspiracy
Police have initiated a broader investigation to trace the source of the narcotics and uncover connections to larger drug distribution networks in the region.
This operation is part of Operation Dawn 2.0, a renewed anti-narcotics drive launched by Itanagar Police to dismantle drug supply chains, apprehend repeat offenders, and promote a drug-free capital.
