Sedtrice Curry Arrested for Stealing $1,500 in Merchandise from Walgreens

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Sedtrice Curry, 31, was arrested by Memphis police on Tuesday in connection to a theft that occurred over a year ago at a Walgreens in Cordova, Tennessee. Curry is accused of being part of a group that stole $1,500 worth of merchandise from the store on December 4, 2023.

According to the arrest affidavit, three women entered the Walgreens around 3:16 a.m. on the day of the theft. They proceeded to fill their shopping carts with various items from the baby section, before pushing the carts out of the store without paying. The thieves then loaded the stolen goods into a black sedan and fled the scene.

The breakthrough in the case came when Memphis police reviewed the store’s security footage and discovered a dropped bottle of Aquaphor lotion in the parking lot. Upon further investigation, police found fingerprints on the bottle, which were later matched to Curry. The connection was made on May 21, when Curry’s fingerprints were linked to the lotion bottle.

During a phone interview with police on June 14, Curry initially denied ever shopping at the Walgreens. However, surveillance footage and the discovery of her fingerprints contradicted her statement. The Walgreens manager confirmed that Curry was not an employee of the store, further solidifying the connection between Curry and the theft.

Curry was booked into Shelby County Jail on Tuesday and charged with theft of property valued between $1,000 and $2,500, a Class E felony under Tennessee law. As of Wednesday morning, Curry’s bond had not been set.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
