A second man has been arrested in connection with the tragic stabbing death of 26-year-old Courtney Mitchell in Ipswich. The mother-of-three was fatally wounded on 6 August following an incident on Burrell Road, Ipswich.

Logan Burnett, 27, from All Saints Road, Ipswich, was charged with murder and appeared in court on Friday. He was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on 25 November.

Following further investigation, Suffolk Police arrested a 35-year-old man from Ipswich on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has since been released on bail with conditions and is scheduled to return to police on 12 October.

Essex Police made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) following previous contact between the police force and Ms. Mitchell before her death.

In a heartfelt statement on Friday, Ms. Mitchell’s family described her as “fun, fierce, and extremely loyal,” and remembered her for her infectious smile and boundless kindness. The family said, “Her laughter was the sweetest sound in our home, and her empathy knew no bounds.”

Police are continuing their investigation and appealing for any information related to the case.
