Scott Johnson Arrested for Attempted Copper Theft in Williamson, WV

WILLIAMSON, WV (LOOTPRESS)—On December 13, 2024, Scott Johnson was arrested after allegedly attempting to steal copper utility lines and fleeing from law enforcement. According to the Williamson Police Department (WPD), officers responded to a report from Frontier Communications about the theft of copper cables along U.S. Route 52.

Frontier employees reported seeing a man, dressed in a hoodie and sweatpants, emerging from a hillside near a cut-down utility line. Acting on the description provided, officers located a suspect matching the details near the Fairview Addition area.

When officers approached the suspect, he refused to identify himself and fled on foot despite multiple verbal commands to stop. Police pursued him and detained Johnson shortly thereafter. Upon arrest, the suspect was identified as Scott Johnson.

Johnson now faces charges of theft and fleeing from police.
