Scott A. Lennington Arrested for Roof Repair Scam in Quincy and Florida

A Morton, Illinois, man was arrested in Treasure Island, Florida, for defrauding at least 10 individuals in Quincy by posing as an insurance adjuster offering roof repair services following a recent hailstorm. 48-year-old Scott A. Lennington was taken into custody by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and Treasure Island Police Department on December 13, 2024.

The arrest followed an investigation by Quincy Police, which began in June. Authorities reported that Lennington falsely claimed to be an insurance adjuster conducting roof repairs. He promised victims that he would work with their insurance companies to settle roof damage claims, but failed to follow through with the repairs. Lennington allegedly forged the victims’ signatures on checks, using them to steal money.

It is estimated that Lennington defrauded Quincy residents out of over $10,000. Quincy Police later discovered that he had traveled to Florida after the recent hurricanes, where he was arrested. The total amount he is believed to have stolen from residents in various locations is nearly $225,000.

Lennington is currently held in the Pinellas County Jail, and further warrants are believed to be pending for similar offenses in other areas.
