Sara Maltzman Arrested for Vehicle Theft and Resisting Arrest in Fields Landing

FIELDS LANDING, Calif. — Sara Maltzman, 39, of Fields Landing, was arrested on Friday, Dec. 20 after stealing a vehicle and fleeing from police, ultimately being detained in Fields Landing.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to a disturbance report around 7 p.m. on Harrison Avenue. Witnesses reported honking and screaming from a vehicle in the area. Upon investigation, deputies discovered that Maltzman had stolen the vehicle from a nearby residence.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., HCSO deputies located Maltzman driving the stolen vehicle on Civic Avenue and followed her to a residence on Harrison Avenue. When officers attempted to apprehend her, Maltzman fled into the home and ignored police commands to exit. After a brief standoff, authorities were able to take Maltzman into custody.

Upon her arrest, live ammunition was discovered in Maltzman’s pocket. Authorities noted that Maltzman is prohibited from possessing ammunition due to a restraining order against her.

Maltzman was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of vehicle theft, resisting a public officer, and violating a protective court order.
