Santa Rosa Teen Arrested for Bringing Glock to High School

A 16-year-old high school student in Santa Rosa was arrested Tuesday after allegedly bringing a loaded Glock 9mm handgun, ammunition, and a knife to school, police said.

The Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) received an anonymous tip from a student at Elsie Allen High School, warning school administrators that the suspect may have been carrying a firearm on campus.

Officers arrived as lunch was ending and were informed that the student had been spotted walking toward the edge of campus. When approached by an SRPD sergeant, the student, who was wearing a black satchel, attempted to flee through the middle of campus.

Officers pursued and quickly surrounded him before he could leave school grounds. He peacefully surrendered, and a search revealed a Glock 9mm handgun in his satchel and a folding knife in his pocket.

The teen was taken into custody and booked into Juvenile Hall on multiple charges, including:
✔️ Possession of a firearm on school grounds
✔️ Possession of a loaded firearm
✔️ Possession of ammunition on school grounds
✔️ Possession of a knife on school grounds
✔️ Obstructing a peace officer

Authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the school, and an investigation is underway to determine why the student brought the firearm to campus.
