Sanjay CT Arrested in Overseas Job Scam Involving Fraud

Sanjay CT, a 47-year-old police inspector, was arrested on Wednesday for his involvement in an overseas job scam. He is the Station House Officer (SHO) at Thoppumpady police station in Ernakulam. Sanjay, a native of Changanassery, was arrested by Kottayam West police, following a separate suspension due to an earlier disciplinary issue.

Along with Sanjay, Preethy Mathew, a 51-year-old resident of Pathanamthitta, was also arrested. Mathew operated the Can Assure Consultancy and had promised a woman a caregiver job in the UK for her daughter, in exchange for Rs 8.6 lakh. When the promised job did not materialize, the woman filed a complaint.

Investigations revealed that funds from Mathew’s account were transferred to Sanjay’s account, and Sanjay allegedly threatened the complainant over the phone.

A total of nine cases were registered against Mathew at the Kottayam West station, with an additional five cases at various other stations. Both Mathew and Sanjay were presented before the court and remanded in judicial custody. The district police chief, Shahul Hameed, stated that the case has now been transferred to the crime branch for further investigation.
