SANDUSKY, Ohio (WTVG) – A Sandusky man is in custody after allegedly scamming a victim out of $1,500, promising a puppy but never delivering. Muzzino Vaccaro, 28, was arrested on February 3 after turning himself in to Perkins Township Police. He faces a theft charge related to the fraudulent transaction.
According to police records, the incident began when a man contacted Vaccaro, who presented himself as a dog trainer, offering a puppy for sale. The victim sent the $1,500 payment via Facebook’s Meta Pay in multiple installments. However, after the payment was made, Vaccaro deactivated his account, and the puppy was never delivered.
The victim reported the situation to the authorities, which led to an investigation. Police issued an arrest warrant for Vaccaro last week, sharing his photo on social media to aid in locating him. Investigations have indicated that Vaccaro may be connected to similar scams in other jurisdictions.
Vaccaro is scheduled for a plea hearing on February 11, and authorities are urging anyone with further information about the scam to come forward.
