SAN JOSE, CA – Police in San Jose have arrested Jesus Delgadillo, a 46-year-old local resident, in connection with a series of retail thefts that have plagued the city since August 2024. According to a press release from the San Jose Police Department, Delgadillo is suspected of being behind dozens of theft incidents, primarily involving stolen Lego sets and other merchandise from Target stores across San Jose.
The Organized Retail Theft (ORT) Detail of the San Jose Police Department began investigating the thefts in the summer, which resulted in losses of over $18,000 in merchandise. After thorough investigation, Delgadillo was identified as the main suspect. Police worked with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office to obtain an arrest warrant.
On November 14, 2024, Delgadillo was located and arrested. During the arrest, officers found stolen items from Target inside his vehicle. Delgadillo was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on multiple counts of grand theft and attempted grand theft.
San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan expressed his appreciation for the police department’s efforts in addressing the ongoing retail theft issue, stating, “Four retail thefts is too many – over 40 is ludicrous. I want to thank our Police Department’s Organized Retail Theft Detail for leaning in and using the resources we have available to arrest those harming our community.”
The case remains under investigation, and authorities are continuing to look into any additional incidents linked to Delgadillo.
