SAN ANTONIO, TX (CBS12) — A San Antonio preschool teacher is behind bars after being arrested for physically assaulting three two-year-old children at the Excelled Montessori Preschool. Alfredo Xavier Marmolejo, 31, was taken into custody on Tuesday after surveillance footage revealed disturbing acts of abuse.
Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the preschool after receiving reports of the abuse. Investigators were shown video footage from inside the classroom, which captured Marmolejo engaging in violent behavior with the children. In one instance, Marmolejo grabbed a child by the arm, dragged them, and slammed the child into a chair. He was also seen slapping another child in the back of the head, causing the child to fall to the floor.
The video showed Marmolejo walking into a third child, causing the child to fall and hit their head on a table. Throughout the incident, Marmolejo did not check on the injured children, instead yelling at one child and tossing items around the room.
When questioned by deputies, Marmolejo admitted to losing control, saying his “emotions got the best of him” and that he didn’t think the classroom incident was as severe as it appeared. Marmolejo has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of child abuse. He is currently being held at the Bexar County Jail.
