Samuel Laurin-Gauvreau Arrested in Ottawa Stabbing Case

Ottawa police have arrested Samuel Laurin-Gauvreau, 19, in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred in the city’s east end last month.

Laurin-Gauvreau was wanted on an outstanding warrant after police discovered a stabbed man on February 15 in the 500 block of St. Laurent Boulevard. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Omar Jonathan Grant, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Authorities have charged Laurin-Gauvreau with second-degree murder and assault with a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 18.

This marks the second arrest in the case. Jacob Blanchard, 25, was previously charged with second-degree murder and assault with a weapon in relation to Grant’s death.

A fundraiser has been launched by Lexxus Gillespie, a friend of Grant’s sister, to support the family with burial and funeral expenses. The goal is to raise $10,000.
