ADDISON, N.Y. (WETM) — A 33-year-old Addison man, Samuel K. Byler, was arrested on multiple charges following a domestic incident on Sunday evening.
Byler is facing serious charges, including criminal contempt in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, menacing in the second degree, and unlawful imprisonment in the second degree. The incident occurred on February 16 around 9 p.m. at a home on Sprague Road in Addison, according to New York State Police.
Police responded to a call from Byler, who reported that the victim had refused to leave his residence. Upon arriving at the scene, officers were allowed inside, where they discovered the victim and began an investigation.
During the investigation, authorities learned that Byler allegedly pointed a sawed-off shotgun at the victim earlier in the day, preventing them from leaving. A search of the property led to the recovery of a break-action shotgun with an 18-inch barrel behind the home.
After being taken into custody, Byler was processed at the State Police barracks in Painted Post and was later transported to Steuben County Jail. He is set to face charges in court on February 17.
