Samuel Balogun, 23, Arrested for Rape and Cyberstalking

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ekiti State Command, on Friday, paraded 23-year-old Samuel Balogun, accused of serious crimes including rape, cyberstalking, conspiracy, and threats to life.

State Commandant Mr. Agboola Sunday revealed that Balogun was apprehended in Omisanjana, Ado Ekiti, following allegations of drugging a woman (identity withheld) and raping her repeatedly. He reportedly filmed the victim without her consent and then threatened to share the video.

“After the victim rejected his advances, he circulated the video on social media, which we have documented,” the commandant stated.

In addition to Balogun, three other suspects—Ojo Temitope (39), Alade Haruna (30), and Abiola Okedele (31)—were arrested in the Oshodi Community of Ado Ekiti. These individuals are believed to be returnees from Burkina Faso involved in human trafficking operations.

“They deceive victims with promises of well-paying jobs in Burkina Faso, collecting substantial fees without disclosing the true nature of their journey,” Mr. Sunday explained.

Items seized from the suspects included a Burkina Faso Army uniform, international passports, bus tickets for Burkina Faso travel, suspected cannabis, and various alcoholic beverages.

The commandant assured that thorough investigations would be conducted, and those involved in trafficking would be handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution. He also cautioned young people, especially women, about engaging in dangerous relationships with cultists.
