PORT GIBSON, MS — Samario Goods, a 30-year-old resident of Port Gibson, was arrested yesterday after authorities found him in possession of a large mason jar of marijuana and a firearm. Alongside the drugs, over $2,600 in cash was also seized. Goods now faces charges for possession with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Chief Investigator Carlton Phillips noted that the confiscated marijuana will be sent to a crime lab for precise weighing. Additionally, Goods had a light bulb camera that may have recorded previous drug transactions at his apartment in Windsor Arms. This camera was confiscated, and the footage will be analyzed for evidence of further criminal activity.
Investigator Phillips expressed concern over Port Gibson’s growing reputation as a drug hub, emphasizing the need for collaboration with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Vicksburg Police Department’s Narcotics division to address the issue.
“We have a drug problem down here, and my goal is to get it straightened out. If you see someone with drugs or know where they are, call the police department and let us know. We’re not standing for it,” Phillips stated. “We want the community to understand that we are committed to fighting drugs within the city limits of Port Gibson.”
