A significant crackdown on corruption has resulted in the arrest of several high-ranking officials from the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs (PCS-MFDA). According to a statement released by the ministry on Sunday, June 23, Salim Swaleh, the Director of the Press Service at the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, is among those apprehended for alleged involvement in corrupt activities.
The Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary reported that Swaleh and his accomplices were part of a cartel engaged in fraudulent practices within the ministry’s Railways Office. They reportedly swindled foreigners by promising favors in exchange for substantial payments. The statement noted that the swindlers were discovered operating from Swaleh’s office, which was equipped with fake door switch-nametags.
