A murder convict, Salim Khan (35), was arrested by the Pune Rural police on Wednesday in connection with the bludgeoning death of a 32-year-old woman in Wadgaon Maval. The woman, who ran a mess in the area, was found dead on Tuesday evening in a nursery behind a temple, leading to an investigation by the police.
A police team, led by Inspector Kumar Kadam, quickly apprehended Khan before he could flee the district. He was presented in court on Wednesday and remanded in police custody until November 18. Khan had previously been arrested for a murder case in Nagpada, Mumbai, where he was convicted and served time in prison from 2007 to March 2022.
The motive behind the murder is still being investigated, although Khan claimed that he killed the woman after she allegedly demanded money from him. The police are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the crime.
