Dorchester County, S.C. – A Clay Hill Elementary School teacher has been arrested following allegations of assault involving a student, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies took Ruth Jones Stephens into custody on Wednesday in connection with the alleged incident.
Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Steven Wright released a statement confirming the arrest, stating:
“Today, Ruth Jones Stephens was arrested in connection with the simple assault of a student at Clay Hill Elementary School. Stephens was subsequently released from the L.C. Knight Detention Center after a bond hearing. The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office continues to actively investigate this incident.”
Authorities have not yet disclosed further details about the alleged assault. The investigation remains ongoing.
