In a major breakthrough, Rourkela police have arrested Rajesh Anthony alias David, a local scout from Madhusudhan Marg under Plantsite police station in Sundargarh district, for his involvement in a daring daylight robbery near the SBI Township Branch in Rourkela on January 9, 2025.
The robbery occurred when 60-year-old Sushil Majhi withdrew Rs5 lakh from the SBI Township Branch in Sector-19. After withdrawing the money, Majhi was attacked by robbers on a Pulsar bike. The assailants snatched the bag containing Rs5 lakh, along with Majhi’s ATM card, Aadhar card, cheque book, and bank copy, before fleeing the scene.
The police launched a quick investigation and managed to track down the accused, Rajesh Anthony, who has now been arrested. Further details regarding the motive and involvement of other individuals, if any, are still under investigation.
