Romitan Deputy Governor Aziz Boboyev Faces Trial for Fraud and Document Forgery

Bukhara Region, Uzbekistan – Aziz Boboyev, the Deputy Governor of Romitan District for Innovative Development, is facing criminal charges related to fraud and document forgery. The case, which also involves his brother Laziz Boboyev, is currently being heard at the Romitan District Court.

The trial, scheduled for January 7, 2025, follows accusations under Article 168 (Fraud) and Article 228 (Forgery of documents, stamps, seals, and forms) of the Criminal Code. The defendants are charged with defrauding victims and producing and using forged documents. Three individuals are identified as victims in the case, but additional details about the allegations remain undisclosed.

Aziz Boboyev, born in 1988 in Romitan District, had a career in banking, working for Mikrokreditbank’s Romitan branch from 2011 to 2022 before being appointed Deputy Governor in March 2024. Prior to this role, he served as an assistant to the district governor in the Hazortut neighborhood.

The outcome of the trial is still pending, and further information will be provided as the case progresses.
