In a significant crackdown on narcotics smuggling, the Guwahati Railway Police on May 12 seized approximately 22.5 kilograms of suspected cannabis (ganja) during a search of the New Delhi Rajdhani Express at Guwahati Railway Station.
The operation was conducted in Coach No. B4 of Train No. 12423 DN, based on actionable intelligence inputs. Two individuals — Rohit Kumar Mishra and Manish Yadav, both residents of Buxar district in Bihar — were found in possession of 20 packets of the illegal substance.
The seized material has been sent for forensic testing, and authorities have initiated legal proceedings under the NDPS Act against the accused.
Railway officials commended the swift response of the enforcement team in intercepting the contraband during the routine inspection.
