On Sunday, police arrested Rijo Antony, a 30-year-old resident of Asarippara in Chalakudy, in connection with a daylight robbery at the Potta branch of Federal Bank. The accused had stolen Rs15 lakh during the crime. The police managed to recover Rs10 lakh from Antony’s residence during his arrest.
The robbery took place on Friday afternoon when Antony entered the bank, brandishing a knife, and threatened the bank employees. He swiftly stole the money and fled the scene on his scooter, leaving the local residents shaken. The crime occurred in broad daylight at Potta Junction, a busy area near Chalakudy.
Authorities were able to apprehend Antony after a quick investigation, leading to the recovery of the stolen amount. Police are continuing their efforts to track down the remaining Rs5 lakh from the robbery.
