MONROE, La. (KNOE) – The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO) has arrested a suspect in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries in North Monroe.
Authorities say surveillance footage captured three masked suspects attempting to break into vehicles and stealing multiple firearms. The investigation led deputies to a stolen vehicle discovered on February 3, where fingerprints identified 23-year-old Richard Oby Jr. as a suspect.
A witness later confirmed seeing Oby operating the stolen vehicle. Deputies executed a search warrant at his residence, recovering numerous firearms and other stolen property tied to the burglaries.
Oby has been charged with:
Six counts of simple burglary
Two counts of illegal possession of stolen things
One count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
One count of attempted burglary
OPSO says the investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are expected.
