PERRY, IA – A 75-year-old Perry man was arrested for first-degree murder after calling police to report he had killed his wife at their home.
Authorities responded to a 911 call from Richard Hoesing around 8:42 p.m. Sunday, directing them to 2600 Lucinda Street. Upon arrival, officers found Jean Ann Hoesing deceased in their bedroom with a fatal throat wound. A kitchen knife was discovered in the bathroom, and Richard Hoesing had blood on his hands and clothing.
According to the criminal complaint, Hoesing told dispatchers he killed his wife because she suffered from bipolar disorder and multiple sclerosis and he wanted to end her suffering.
Hoesing was cooperative with officers and was taken to the police department, where he was later charged with first-degree murder.
Authorities have confirmed that this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community. The investigation remains ongoing.
