Richard Dacey Rogers Arrested for Drug Trafficking in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Richard Dacey Rogers, 39, was arrested on Tuesday morning and charged with drug trafficking after North Charleston police discovered fentanyl during a trespassing investigation. Officers responded to a call around 6:30 a.m. about people trespassing at a vacant business on Rivers Avenue. Upon arrival, they found Rogers sleeping on the sidewalk in front of the building.

After waking him up and asking him to leave, Rogers complied. However, as he stood up, a glass jar containing a light blue, crystal-like substance fell from his person. Police field-tested the substance, confirming it was fentanyl, weighing nearly 97 grams.

Rogers was arrested and booked into the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center on a $75,000 bond. He faces a charge of trafficking 4 grams or more of fentanyl. A recent mugshot of Rogers was not available at the time.
