HUGHES COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) – Authorities have arrested 42-year-old Richard Chambers, suspected of a killing spree that left three people dead across multiple locations in Oklahoma.
A Trail of Violence
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) worked with the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Office, Midwest City Police, and Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) to identify Chambers as a person of interest in the crimes.
The investigation began when Midwest City Police discovered 62-year-old Annie Brown shot to death inside her home. Her car was missing but later found nearly 90 miles away in Allen, Oklahoma.
Just before midnight Tuesday, Pontotoc County deputies responded to a suspicious call in Allen, where they found an elderly couple—84-year-old Robert Peliti and 70-year-old Jackie Peliti—severely injured. Jackie Peliti died at the scene, while Robert Peliti succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
Suspect Lived in Victim’s Backyard
Investigators revealed that Chambers had been living in a shed in Brown’s backyard. Neighbors say she often helped those in need, allowing people to use the space for shelter.
“She was a really kind and giving person,” said Braelyn Hill, Brown’s neighbor. “It’s crazy to think someone would take advantage of that.”
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities are still working to determine Chambers’ motive behind the deadly attacks.
“In such a short amount of time, three innocent people are now gone,” said OSBI’s Hunter McKee.
Chambers was arrested Wednesday morning in Hughes County, near Ada, and remains in custody as the investigation continues.
