Richard Brown Arrested for $6,300 Sunglasses Theft in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. — Richard Brown, 47, of Utica, was arrested on December 23 in connection with the theft of nearly 30 pairs of sunglasses from Bass Pro Shops in Utica. The theft, which occurred on October 21, resulted in a loss of approximately $6,300.

The suspect was seen entering the store and filling a bag with sunglasses before leaving the premises. Surveillance footage captured the vehicle used in the crime, which led to the identification of the suspect through collaboration between the Utica Police Department, the Mohawk Valley Crime Analysis Center, and Herkimer County Probation.

After several unsuccessful attempts to locate Brown, officers arrested him on December 23. He has been charged with grand larceny and has an outstanding harassment warrant.
