Reginald Chatman and Raymond Pouncy Arrested After Stealing $47,000 from Victim in Glendale

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Two men, Reginald Chatman and Raymond Pouncy, were arrested after a violent robbery and high-speed chase involving a large sum of stolen money in Glendale. The incident unfolded after the victim, who had withdrawn a significant amount of money for a potential truck purchase, was targeted by the suspects.

According to police reports, the victim and his son visited multiple banks to withdraw funds, including a cashier’s check and a large sum of cash, before traveling to meet the seller of a truck they were interested in buying. While waiting for the seller to return home, the victim counted the money inside his vehicle.

As the victim and his son waited, Chatman, who had been watching, seized the opportunity and stole a bag of cash from the victim’s car. The victim noticed the theft, chased the suspect’s vehicle, and contacted 911. A Glendale officer observed the two cars speeding through the area, and shortly afterward, the suspect’s car ran a red light, causing a collision at 67th Avenue and Olive Avenue.

After the crash, both Chatman and Pouncy fled from their vehicle. The victim, in pursuit of Chatman, engaged in a physical struggle, during which cash spilled onto the roadway. As Chatman continued to flee, the victim attempted to gather the money, tossing it into the suspect’s car to secure it as evidence.

When police arrived, they found Chatman’s red cell phone on the ground, which the victim also retrieved and threw into the suspect’s car. A search of the vehicle later revealed $47,205 in cash. Both suspects were taken into custody without further incident.

During questioning, Chatman denied any involvement with the victim’s financial transactions, stating, “I don’t know,” while Pouncy invoked his Fifth Amendment right when asked about his relationship with Chatman.

Both suspects have a history of arrests and convictions. Authorities continue to investigate the case as both men face serious charges, including robbery and theft.
