Rebecca Fletcher Arrested for Theft at Paintsville Walmart

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Rebecca Fletcher, a Paintsville woman employed as a dispatcher at the Prestonsburg/Floyd County Emergency Communications Center, was arrested on Thursday after being accused of attempting to steal from a Kentucky Walmart.

According to the Prestonsburg Police Department (PPD), officers responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Paintsville Walmart. Upon arrival, they discovered that Fletcher had allegedly stolen $250 from the Prestonsburg Walmart. Additionally, law enforcement said that another suspect had either stolen or attempted to steal $1,000 worth of merchandise from the Paintsville Walmart.

PPD officials said that arrest warrants for Fletcher were filed in both Johnson and Floyd County district courts. Officers arrested her at her home after the warrants were issued. Fletcher was taken into custody and booked into the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.

Following the arrest, the Prestonsburg Police Department confirmed that Fletcher had been suspended without pay, and her security clearance had been permanently revoked. They emphasized that public servants must be held accountable for their actions and that behavior such as this would not be tolerated among city employees.

The theft investigation is ongoing, and the case has been handed over to the Floyd and Johnson County Attorneys for further review.
