Raytown Man Jauan Pratt Indicted for Drug Trafficking, Firearm Charges

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 30-year-old man from Raytown, Jauan D. Pratt, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on drug trafficking and firearm charges, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Pratt faces several charges, including possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

The indictment follows a June 2024 investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), where agents discovered eight kilograms of fentanyl pills, 15 kilograms of fentanyl powder, and an Apple AirTag belonging to Pratt in a water cooler box inside a vehicle in Kansas City.

On December 8, 2024, federal agents executed a search warrant at Pratt’s residence and uncovered significant quantities of illegal substances and firearms. The search yielded 1,680 grams of methamphetamine, 3,478 grams of fentanyl, and multiple firearms, including a .223 caliber assault rifle, a stolen 5.56mm assault rifle, and a FN 57x rifle. Authorities also found a large sum of cash in the room where Pratt and his child were reportedly sleeping.

Further investigation led to the discovery of additional drugs and weapons throughout the house, including 1,754 grams of fentanyl, 877 grams of heroin, 35 grams of ecstasy, and nine pounds of marijuana. Agents also recovered a stolen 9mm handgun and a kilogram-size hydraulic brick press.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Megan A. Baker and was investigated by the DEA.
