OPA-LOCKA, Fla. — Cuban reggaeton artist Chocolate MC, whose real name is Yosvanis Sierra Hernandez, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly kidnapping and robbing a fan at gunpoint after the individual requested a photo.
The incident occurred outside Chavez Distributors, a grocery store in Opa-locka, when a fan approached the 34-year-old artist known for songs like “A Veces”. However, what started as a casual interaction quickly escalated into a terrifying ordeal.
According to an arrest report obtained by Local 10 News, Sierra Hernandez brandished a firearm, pressed it to the victim’s chest, and forced him to surrender his vehicle. He then demanded cash, and when the fan revealed his wallet was empty, Sierra attempted to make him send money via Zelle. After the fan claimed he didn’t have access to Zelle, the rapper reportedly forced the victim to drive him to several locations around Miami for nearly two hours.
The rapper, dubbed “The King of Reparteros”, now faces charges of armed robbery and kidnapping with a weapon.
This isn’t Chocolate MC’s first encounter with law enforcement. In May 2024, he was accused of kidnapping and raping his ex-girlfriend after abducting her outside an apartment complex and driving her to Palm Beach County. In a separate case, he was reportedly involved in a murder-for-hire plot, offering a bounty on social media for the killing of an inmate charged in the 2024 murder of fellow artist El Taiger.
Chocolate MC, who has more than 43,000 Instagram followers, describes himself in his Spotify bio as “one of the most recognized, yet controversial, exponents of Cuban reggaeton and reparteros music.”
The investigation into the latest incident remains ongoing.
