Rameshwar Mandrekar Arrested in Goa Cash-for-Job Scam

Canacona police on Wednesday arrested Rameshwar Mandrekar, a resident of Sanquelim, in connection with a fraudulent cash-for-job scam. Mandrekar allegedly promised the complainant, Krishna Naik, a government job in 2012 in exchange for a hefty sum of Rs 5 lakh. However, the job was never secured, and Mandrekar and his accomplice failed to deliver on their promise.

According to police reports, the two men approached Naik with the offer of a government job, for which they demanded a large advance payment. Naik agreed to pay Rs 5 lakh, but despite waiting over a year, no job materialized. In 2021, Naik filed a complaint with the police, although no action was taken until recently.

Mandrekar has been remanded to police custody for two days, while the second person named in the FIR remains at large. The investigation is being led by PSI Vishal Velip, with Canacona Police Inspector Harish Raut Dessai overseeing the case.

In recent developments, the police have arrested three other individuals in connection with a similar job racket, including two from Poinguinim and one from Margao.
