Ram Singh, a 19-year-old construction worker from Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara, has been sentenced to four years and six months in prison after pleading guilty to charges of break and enter and larceny.
The theft occurred on January 18, 2025, at the residence of Asad Ayube, where Singh allegedly stole a Movado watch worth US$1,000 and cash amounting to G$2.5 million.
Singh appeared before Principal Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Diamond/Grove Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. Although he initially wasn’t required to enter a plea, Singh later pleaded guilty under the Administration of Justice Act. The police had arrested Singh on January 20, 2024.
