Rajpura Police Arrest Tejinder Singh, Drug Peddler Linked to Bambiha Gang

A drug peddler associated with the notorious Bambiha gang, Tejinder Singh, was arrested late on Monday night after a brief encounter with the police in Rajpura town, Patiala district. Tejinder, a resident of Uppalheri village in Rajpura, was apprehended following a dramatic sequence of events.

According to Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nanak Singh, the police had set up a checkpoint after receiving credible information about the accused’s movements. When officers signaled Tejinder Singh, who was riding a motorcycle, to stop, he attempted to flee and fired two shots at the police. The bullets struck the police vehicle. In response, the police fired back, injuring Tejinder in his left ankle.

Following the encounter, the injured drug peddler was taken to a government hospital for treatment. The police seized a significant cache of narcotic tablets and an unlicensed firearm from his possession.

SSP Nanak Singh stated, “This arrest is a major step in tackling the drug menace in the region. We acted swiftly based on the information we received.”

The accused, Tejinder Singh, has a history of criminal activity, already facing multiple cases under the Arms Act and NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act, the police confirmed.
