Queen Viola Arthur Arrested for Filing False Insurance Claim

DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. – A 33-year-old woman from the Pee Dee region, Queen Viola Arthur, was arrested on January 6 after allegedly submitting a fraudulent insurance claim to Progressive.

According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), Arthur filed a claim in October 2023, claiming that her car had collided with a deer. She provided photos to support her claim and stated that her vehicle had no prior damage. However, the metadata of the photos revealed they were taken before her policy had started and well before the alleged incident.

The warrant states that Arthur attempted to fraudulently receive $2,014.54 by submitting the false claim. Progressive ultimately rejected the claim after discovering the discrepancies.

Arthur was booked into the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center and released on a $2,000 bond.
