The Puri Police have arrested a 20-year-old youth, Ritesh Sisodia, for stealing luxury items worth lakhs from a luxury hotel during a wedding celebration. Ritesh, from Kadia village in Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh, was caught trying to steal items from another wedding venue in Puri on Monday. His accomplice managed to escape.
Ritesh and his friend attended a wedding at a luxury hotel in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, posing as guests from the groom’s side. The duo took part in a photoshoot with the bride while keeping an eye on the gifts. As the crowd grew, they quietly stole a gift bag containing cash and valuable items placed by the bride’s mother. After the theft, the two suspects fled the scene.
The bride’s family immediately reported the crime to the Maitri Vihar Police, who reviewed CCTV footage from the hotel and identified the suspects. On Monday, while attempting to steal at another wedding venue in Puri, Ritesh was caught by security guards. His friend, however, managed to escape. The police have taken Ritesh into custody and continue searching for his accomplice.
The police action has raised awareness about wedding-related thefts, and investigations are ongoing.
