Punjab Police Seize 2kg Heroin, Rs 5 Lakh Drug Money, Arrest Multiple Suspects

Punjab Police have made significant drug seizures in three separate incidents, recovering over 2kg of heroin and Rs 5 lakh in drug money, leading to the arrest of several individuals involved in the trafficking operations.

In the first incident, the Airport police arrested Dilpreet Singh, alias Honey, a resident of Amrit Colony in Rajasansi. The police seized 1kg of heroin from his possession after he was apprehended near Ekam Dhaba on Ajnala Road. Dilpreet was produced in court and remanded to police custody for further interrogation.

In a separate operation, the CIA Staff-3, led by Inspector Binderjit Singh, arrested two men: Gautam Soni, a resident of Guru Nanak Pura, Verka, and Shubham Kumar, alias Subi, from Indira Colony. The police recovered 80gm of heroin, a .32 bore pistol, and Rs 5.02 lakh in drug money from them. Gautam Soni has an extensive criminal record, including charges of murder, rape, and the POCSO Act, while Shubham faces an Arms Act case. The duo has been booked under the NDPS Act and the Arms Act.

In the third case, the Chheharta police seized another 1kg of heroin during their investigation into a trans-border drug cartel. This seizure was made during the questioning of Manjit Singh, alias Bhola, the kingpin of the cartel, who is from Rajasansi. Previously, the police had already confiscated 2.192kg of heroin, three pistols, Rs 2.60 lakh in drug money, along with a SUV and a bike from the cartel members. The police had arrested 12 individuals, including an Anganwadi worker, in the raid.

The authorities continue their investigations, aiming to dismantle the entire trans-border trafficking network and prevent further distribution of illegal drugs in the region.
