Punjab Police Recruitment Scam: Two Employees Arrested for Bribery

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has successfully busted a major recruitment scam involving two Punjab Police employees who had been accepting bribes to help individuals secure Class IV jobs in the police force.

The two arrested individuals, Tarlochan Pal (a sweeper) and Surinderpal (a barber), both held positions in the Punjab Police and were caught after accepting over Rs 26 lakh from 102 people who sought jobs through the illegal scheme. The bribery was arranged under the pretext of getting these people appointed as Class IV employees in the state police.

The scam was uncovered after a complaint was lodged by Surinder Singh, a resident of Nanglan village, Hoshiarpur district, through the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line portal. Following the investigation, both Tarlochan Pal and Surinderpal were arrested for their involvement in this fraudulent activity.

Tarlochan Pal, who was posted in the 3rd India Reserve Battalion as a sweeper, and Surinderpal, a barber at the Punjab Police Academy in Phillaur, were both found guilty of demanding bribes from several individuals in exchange for fake promises of recruitment.

This arrest sheds light on how individuals within the system took advantage of their positions, exploiting unsuspecting job seekers for monetary gain. The Vigilance Bureau is now focusing on further investigating the full extent of the scam and those who may have been involved.
