Pune Police Arrest Four for Real Estate Agent’s Murder Over Loan Dispute

Pune Rural Police arrested four individuals on Thursday for the murder of a real estate agent who was killed for not returning a loan of Rs18.50 lakh. The incident took place on November 27 in broad daylight in the Haveli area of Pune district.

A case has been registered at Haveli police station, with charges under sections 103(1), 61(2), 352(2), 3(5) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita and sections 4, 27 of the Arms Act.

The accused have been identified as Jivan alias Bala Shailesh Jagtap (27) from Chorgalli, Akshay alias Babu Babaji Shelar (24) from Bhor, Sohel alias Fukya Sajidali Jora (19) from Bhor, and Devidas alias Deva Laxman Tambat (20) from Tambat Ali, Bhor.

The murder victim, Satish Sudam Thopte (37), a resident of Kolhewadi, was killed on the instructions of Bhausaheb Sadashiv Kiwale, a resident of Dhayari Phata, using a koyta (sharp weapon).

According to police, Kiwale had previously forced Thopte into borrowing ₹18.50 lakh six months ago to finance a real estate deal. The loan was meant to be repaid by Kiwale, but the payment was not made. Thopte had expressed his frustration publicly, leading to a conflict between the two parties. Kiwale, angered by Thopte’s actions, allegedly plotted to eliminate him.

After reviewing CCTV footage in the area, the police identified Devidas Tambat as one of the suspects. They tracked down the group at Khed Shivapur and arrested them before they could flee to Kolhapur. The main accused, Kiwale, is still on the run, and a manhunt is underway.

Police Inspector Sachin Wangde from the Haveli Police Station confirmed the arrests and stated that further investigations are ongoing.
