Provo Woman Arrested for Theft and Deception After False Blessing Scheme

Sarai Desiree Castillo De Churon, a 41-year-old woman from Provo, Utah, has been arrested on charges of theft and deception after allegedly promising to “bless” valuable items for victims, only to never return them.

According to court documents, De Churon would offer religious or healing blessings in exchange for cash, with victims providing perfumes, jewelry, and money. One victim paid $5,000 for a blessing of jewelry worth under $500, while another paid over $12,000 for a blessing on jewelry worth $300, yet neither received their items back.

Detectives say De Churon arranged for victims to meet her at her Provo home on September 8, 2024, to retrieve their property, but upon arrival, the home was vacant. She was arrested on Thursday and now faces multiple charges of theft and deception.
