Property Dispute Leads to Murder of Akram Qureshi, 5 Arrested

The murder of 22-year-old aggregator cab driver Akram Iqbaluddin Qureshi has been solved with the arrest of his girlfriend, Jassi Tiwari, and four accomplices. The crime, which took place in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, was rooted in a property dispute.

On January 17, Qureshi was brutally attacked with iron rods and stones near the Tansa Vaitarna water pipeline in Mauje Pogaon, Thane district. His body was found the next day in a thicket close to the site of the attack. The Bhiwandi Taluka police registered a murder case and launched a thorough investigation.

The breakthrough came when investigators examined CCTV footage and mobile data, which pointed to Qureshi’s girlfriend, Tiwari. During questioning, Tiwari admitted to her involvement and revealed the identities of the other accused.

One of the suspects, Mohammad Kaif Rafiq Qureshi, had a long-standing land dispute with the victim. Tiwari lured Qureshi to a pre-arranged location in Bhiwandi, where Kaif and his associates were waiting. Armed with iron rods and stones, the attackers ambushed Qureshi, leading to his death.

Police arrested Mohammad Kaif, Isamuddin Riazuddin Qureshi, Salman Md Shafiq Khan, and Suhail Ahmed Qureshi, all from Haiderpur, Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh. The investigation is ongoing.
