Prattville Police Arrest Two in Vehicle Pursuit and Theft Case

On October 22, 2024, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Prattville officers stopped a vehicle on North Memorial Drive linked to a breaking and entering and theft case from October 2. During the stop, driver Joequisha Marshall, 29, of Lowndesboro, Alabama, exited to enter a nearby business. Meanwhile, passenger James Cain Jr., 20, of Montgomery, Alabama, moved to the driver’s seat and fled the scene.

A vehicle pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies ensued, spanning Prattville and North Montgomery. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed near Gibson Street and Lower Wetumpka Road in Montgomery. After the crash, Cain discarded a firearm, later found to be stolen from Elmore County, and was apprehended.

Cain faces charges of Felony Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement, Unlawful Breaking and Entering of a Vehicle, and Theft of Property 3rd Degree, with bonds totaling $55,000. Marshall was charged with Failure to Obey Law Enforcement and Resisting Arrest, with bonds set at $1,000. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be pending.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
