Pontiac Man Franky Steven Humpkins Arraigned on Felony Charges

Franky Steven Humpkins, a 36-year-old Pontiac man, was recently arraigned on felony charges following a series of crimes in Rochester Hills. He faces five counts of attempted home invasion, two counts of breaking and entering, as well as credit card fraud, firearm possession, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Humpkins’ arrest occurred on January 9, 2025, after investigators from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Directed Patrol Unit located him in Pontiac. During the arrest, authorities discovered a loaded Sig Sauer pistol in his vehicle.

Sheriff Michael Bouchard expressed pride in the team’s hard work, emphasizing the danger of releasing habitual offenders with a history of weapons charges back into the community. “Sadly, we have an individual with multiple arrests for illegal weapons back on the streets,” he said.

The crimes occurred between December 20 and December 29, 2024. Humpkins reportedly targeted unlocked homes and vehicles, attempting to steal from several residences in the Rochester Hills area. Authorities were able to identify him through security footage and tips from residents.

Additionally, Humpkins has a lengthy criminal history, including convictions for fraud, larceny, and prior offenses involving firearms. His bond is set at $1 million, and he remains in custody at the Oakland County Jail.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald reaffirmed the county’s commitment to protecting residents from home invasions and similar crimes. “A home invasion is more than just a property crime; it is a violation of a family’s safety,” she said.

Humpkins is expected to face trial in the coming months, and further investigation is ongoing regarding his potential involvement in other crimes.
